September is National Piano Month.

So here are some fun facts about the piano.

🎵   Bartolomeo Cristofori from Padua, Italy, invented the piano in the early 1700’s, the exact year isn’t known.

🎵   The piano is made up of more than 12,000 parts.

🎵   The piano has 88 keys, 52 are white and 36 are black, with each octave made up of seven white keys and five black keys.

🎵.  The piano has 230 strings to generate all of its sound, so each key has 1-3 strings.

🎵   Learning to play the piano improves cognitive ability and academic performance.

🎵   Practicing the piano increases spatial-temporal abilities, which is key to being sharp in science, math, and engineering.

🎵   People who spend time practicing the keyboard experience lower anxiety and are less likely to have depression.

🎵   Practicing the piano helps relieve stress and boost self-esteem.

Besides being National Piano Month, September is also the month I was born, along with my twins, my golden retriever Ollie, my sister, and my best friend. September is also the month I got married. So basically September is the best month ever. Happy practicing! 🎶🎹🎵
